The month of August is a harsh one. No, I’m not referring to the sweltering heat that everyone in the Northern Hemisphere is currently experiencing here on Earth. Instead, I find myself grumbling since the wait for manufacturers to unveil new 2023 models feels like it will never end.
I am aware that these are first-world problems. Our prayers have been answered, as Ducati has announced that it would begin the 2023 World Première series on September 2, 2022, one year earlier than originally planned.
The Bologna manufacturer has been tight-lipped regarding the new and improved models that it has in the pipeline, despite the fact that the date in question is less than one month away. The schedule for the 2023 World Premières was been revealed by the company, but the mysterious titles don’t reveal much about what Ducati has in store.
The remaining six unveilings are still a mystery, with the exception of a special look at the updated Scrambler that will only be available to attendees of World Ducati Week 2022.
Nevertheless, indications from Australian certifications point to the fact that the Italian company is working on a new Monster SP model right now. The most recent iteration of the Monster motorcycle, which was released in 2021, did away with its signature trellis frame in favor of an aluminum alloy frame and combined it with the adaptable 937cc Testastretta V-twin engine. The controversial nude will make a comeback in 2023, alongside the upgraded Monster Plus.
According to the documents from Australia, the Monster lineup will be topped off by the brand-new SP trim.
There is not much information available about the models, but judging from the previous Ducati SP versions, we anticipate that the naked bike will receive a suspension, wheels, and braking components that are optimized for performance.
At this moment, of course, it is nothing more than an educated guess; but, the premium trim should fill the gap that exists between the Monster and the Streetfighter V2.
There is no doubt that a new Scrambler and Monster will serve as the company’s entry-level offerings, but for additional guidance, we can look to Ducati’s early 2023 releases.
A new Storm Green livery was unveiled for the Streetfighter V2 in June of 2022, while the 2023 Panigale V4, V4 S, and V4 SP were released not long after in July of 2022.
Because of this, we have a strong suspicion that an upgraded version of the Panigale V4 R and the Streetfighter V4 will be vying for a spot in the 2023 World Première program.
At this point, the only way to definitively confirm our hypotheses is to wait for the company to publicly present its 2023 lineup, but at least this will keep us occupied for the remainder of the month of August.
