LATEST NEWS: Gino Rea Opens Eyes And Moves Legs After Suzuka 8 Hours Crash

Following his accident at the Suzuka Circuit, British endurance motorcycle racer Gino Rea was taken to a local hospital in Japan by officials of the Endurance World Championship (EWC) on August 13, 2022, marking one week since the incident.

The rider’s family released many updates via the rider’s Instagram profile on August 8 and August 11, 2022, putting the minds of many racing fans at ease after they feared the worst in the days immediately following the event.

It appears that Rea’s condition will continue to improve with a few additional days of treatment as well as rest. The Rea and Berdini families posted yet another update on the rider’s condition on Instagram on August 13, 2022. This time, the update was even more positive than the previous one.

The caption of the photo shared on Instagram stated that “His condition in the morning was stable.” “Once we reduced the dose of anesthesia medicine, he opened his eyes, and made eye contact in a very short term.” said the doctor.

In addition, it was disclosed in the statement that Rea “moved his arms and kicked his legs numerous times.” On the other hand, Rea’s family mentioned that the physicians “gave sedatives” to help Rea “with his rehabilitation” later on.

In the past, in order to control Rea’s temperature and bring down the swelling in his brain, medical professionals put him into a coma under medical supervision. To our good fortune, the change turned out to be beneficial, and Rea is exhibiting signs of improvement.

We can only hope that this most recent round of anesthetic will allow Rea to continue on his current path. Whenever we receive further information regarding the condition of the rider for the FCC TSR Honda France team, we will, of course, continue to revise and update this narrative.

The original story is down below.

Gino Rea, an English motorcycle racer who was of Italian heritage, was involved in an accident during the second free practice session of the 2022 Suzuka 8 Hours on August 6, 2022. The accident took place in a chicane complex known as the Casio Triangle on the Suzuka Circuit.

This complex leads onto the back straightaway. The rider with FCC TSR Honda France received treatment at the trackside by the medical staff that was on-site, but his injuries required him to be transported to a nearby hospital via airlift shortly afterward.

Due to the severe brain injuries he sustained in the accident, Rea remained in critical condition and was placed into a coma by medical professionals for several days. In addition to the severity of the injuries, the media was unable to receive up-to-date medical information regarding Rea’s condition.

We are now aware of the reason why the hospital personnel chose to maintain their silence throughout that time period as a result of a post that was published on Rea’s Instagram profile by his family.

According to the release statement, “We couldn’t make a post earlier due to the Japanese culture, as they do not release any news to media without the direct contact with the family first, in release statement was written ” We arrived in Japan on August 8 and 8pm with many thanks to the EWC, FIM, Suzuka Circuit, British Consulate, and TSR Racing Team for all the help in arranging emergency visas for us.

After the family had arrived, Rea was maintained in a coma that had been artificially caused by the medical staff in order to “decrease swelling on his brain and to control his temperature.” On the other hand, the Rea family sent an update to the rider’s supporters on Thursday, August 11, 2022, by way of a fresh post on the rider’s Instagram page.

In the description of Gino’s Instagram post, it says, “We would like to send a quick update in regards to Gino’s current condition,”

“The results of the CT-Scan showed signs of recovery with reduced swelling. He is in a stable condition and recovering from the usual side effects from such a trauma. We are looking forward to a speedy recovery from him as we all know he is capable of it.”

Even though Rea has a long road to recovery ahead of him, we hope that he continues to progress at a consistent rate. We should be able to anticipate more regular updates now that his family is by his side as the Honda rider continues his road to recovery.
