(LATEST) Thailand Releases Limited Edition 44th Anniversary Yamaha SR400

Time passes for everyone, and this is especially true for motorcycles. As expectations and requirements change, a model must either evolve to remain relevant, or it will eventually become obsolete. Consider Yamaha’s SR400.

Late in August of 2022, Thai Yamaha announced that the 44th-anniversary limited edition SR400 would be released exclusively in Thailand, one of the few countries where it is still accessible as a new model.

If nostalgia is your preferred medication, then the Yamaha SR400 Limited Edition Black Gold has much to offer you. First of all, those familiar with the SR400’s history will notice the coloring, which was deliberately selected by Yamaha because it is the same colorway as the original 1978 SR400 model. If classic aesthetics are your style, they are incredibly sharp.

It is powered by a 399cc, air-cooled, single overhead cam, four-stroke engine with two valves, 87mm bore, and 67mm stroke. This unique SR400 reportedly generates 17.1 kW (or 22.9 horsepower) at 6,500 rpm and 27.4 newton-meters (20.2 pound-feet) of torque at 3,000 rpm.

It can only be started with a Kickstarter; there is no electric starter. However, it’s one concession to technology is fuel injection, so you won’t need to fuss with a cute and diminutive carburetor.

The front suspension consists of a normal telescopic fork, while the rear suspension consists of a pair of dual shocks. In the front, a 298mm hydraulic disc braking system and a drum brake provide stopping power. The SR400 is equipped with 18-inch spoked wheels and tube-type tires.

The wheelbase measures 1,410 mm, the length is 2,085 mm, the width is 750 mm, and the height is 1,095 mm. The seat height is comfortably accessible at 785 mm (or 30.9 inches). There are 174 kilos or 383.6 pounds of curb weight.

How restricted is the supply of this Limited Edition? In Thailand, Yamaha will exclusively sell 400 44th Anniversary SR400s, each of which will feature a numbered plaque indicating its position in the production line. In addition, these bicycles will come with an exclusive gift box set that includes a commemorative SR400 lighter and leather key fob.

On September 8, 2022, the MSRP for the SR400 Limited Edition Black Gold is 309,000, which is equivalent to $8,465 USD. On Thai Yamaha’s website, complete information regarding this special edition is listed as current as of now.

Mihael

Hello there fellow motorcycle enthusiasts; I’m Mihael. The first motorcycle I had was a scooter Gilera vxr 200 from 2003. This is the motorcycle I fell in love with, which brought me into the moto world. Since then, I have been riding many kinds of bikes, from dirt bikes to race bikes. At the moment, I have a Kawasaki Z750 from 2004, and all I can say is that it is a hell of a bike. I have been riding motorcycles for the last 10 years, and during this period, I have been to many locations where I would probably not be without my bike. My goal is to give you the best advice and tips possible that I have been using myself and that all of my biker friends find helpful to them as well.
