(LATEST) Yamaha XSR GP Set to Make Debut in 2023

Young Machine, a Japanese media company, has strong ties to Japan’s Big Four, to put it mildly. The magazine consistently seems to offer the most recent information about brand-new models arriving from the Land of the Rising Sun.

From the reborn Dax 125 to the 30th anniversary Honda CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade, Young Machine’s predictions consistently seem to be spot-on.

With such a strong track record, it is difficult to doubt the outlet’s predictions, especially given that its most recent edition features a model that had already been registered as a trademark.

Yamaha requested the use of the XSR GP moniker in a trademark application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in April of 2022.

We conjectured that Team Blue could convert one of their road-oriented MT/XSR vehicles into a retro racer, replete with Grand Prix-inspired bodywork, despite the fact that the provided documents lacked any technical details. That is exactly what the Iwata manufacturer plans to do with the XSR900 platform, claims Young Machine.

With its Euro 5-compliant CP3 (inline-three) engine, cutting-edge electronics, dynamic chassis changes, and ’80s Grand Prix appearance, Yamaha completely redesigned the retro roadster for 2022.

According to Young Machine’s computer rendering, the XSR GP would appear to maintain that sartorial theme. On the other hand, if it had a boxy tail cowl with a wraparound fairing, it would be the perfect representation of the aesthetic of the 1980s.

We are confident that the tried-and-true inline-three will be brought back in its current configuration if Yamaha decides to introduce a CP3-powered XSR GP in 2023.

Accordingly, the vintage naked turned sportbike would continue to produce 68.6 lb-ft of torque at 7,000 rpm and 119 horsepower at 10,000 rpm.

Additionally, the vehicle would be added to the burgeoning group of faired neo-retros that already includes the Triumph Speed Triple RR, MV Agusta Superveloce, and the impending Honda Hawk 11.

In addition to the XSR GP, it is impossible for us to ignore the other possible products that are depicted on the cover of the October 2022 issue of Young Machine.

The Big Four might have a lot in store for 2023, including a flying Yamaha YZF-R1, the Kawasaki Z400RS, and the Honda Rebel 1100 Tour. Regrettably, it will be a few more months until we find out whether or not the publication’s rumors and suspicions are founded in reality.

Mihael

Hello there fellow motorcycle enthusiasts; I’m Mihael. The first motorcycle I had was a scooter Gilera vxr 200 from 2003. This is the motorcycle I fell in love with, which brought me into the moto world. Since then, I have been riding many kinds of bikes, from dirt bikes to race bikes. At the moment, I have a Kawasaki Z750 from 2004, and all I can say is that it is a hell of a bike. I have been riding motorcycles for the last 10 years, and during this period, I have been to many locations where I would probably not be without my bike. My goal is to give you the best advice and tips possible that I have been using myself and that all of my biker friends find helpful to them as well.
