(LATEST)Joan Mir Signs Two-Year Deal with Repsol Honda

The motorsports community was in disbelief when Suzuki announced that it would stop competing in the MotoGP at the end of the 2022 season. Alex Rins and Joan Mir are two of the best riders in the season, therefore their futures are highly debated.

Although there have been whispers regarding the two riders’ fates, it has now been confirmed that Honda holds the key to both Spaniards’ futures.

Initially, it was anticipated that Suzuki would extend the contracts of both riders. Now that Suzuki’s decision to depart the racing circuit is all but decided, this seems to be entirely off the table. Joan Mir will thankfully sign a two-year contract and begin racing for the Repsol Honda Team in 2023, according to a statement from Honda Racing Corporation.

When the 2022 season is done, the 2020 MotoGP World Champion will transfer manufacturers with current teammate Alex Rins, who will join the LCR Honda squad. In addition to the upcoming season, he will also be Marc Marquez’s new teammate in 2024.

I’m thrilled to formally announce that I’ll be joining the Repsol Honda Team in 2019. I’m grateful to HRC for believing in me and allowing me the chance to defend these legendary colors, which are rich in history and world championships.

We’ll make the most of my years of experience in MotoGP with Suzuki to help the project along as much as we can while competing to win the title once more as a team. Joan Mir made this statement in the MotoGP press release.

Mir added that after suffering an ankle injury in a violent high-side crash, his current emphasis is on getting back in shape. “Now it’s time to keep concentrating on my recuperation so I can get back on the circuits as soon as possible and have a fantastic finish to the season with Team Suzuki Ecstar,” the rider said.

After adding a victory in the top division to his Moto3 title in 2017, Mir, a 24-year-old Spaniard with an outstanding record of 12 Grand Prix victories and 33 podium places, became a two-time World Champion in 2020.

Joan Mir will undoubtedly have his work cut out for him in the upcoming season because the Honda RC213V has a reputation for being one of the most challenging MotoGP motorcycles to ride, as stated by none other than Marc Marquez.

Mihael

Hello there fellow motorcycle enthusiasts; I’m Mihael. The first motorcycle I had was a scooter Gilera vxr 200 from 2003. This is the motorcycle I fell in love with, which brought me into the moto world. Since then, I have been riding many kinds of bikes, from dirt bikes to race bikes. At the moment, I have a Kawasaki Z750 from 2004, and all I can say is that it is a hell of a bike. I have been riding motorcycles for the last 10 years, and during this period, I have been to many locations where I would probably not be without my bike. My goal is to give you the best advice and tips possible that I have been using myself and that all of my biker friends find helpful to them as well.
