Serious Updates for the Yamaha YZ450F, YZ125F, and YZ250X in 2023

Yamaha made the formal debut of its 2023 YZ Motocross and Cross Country motorcycle lines on August 10, 2022. Although numerous models will carry over into the new year with no changes, riders will want to keep an eye out for a couple that has received major revisions.

There are a variety of details to look through, beginning with the 2023 YZ450F and continuing on to the YZ450F Monster Energy Racing Edition, as well as the YZ125X and YZ250X.

To begin with, we have the 2023 Yamaha YZ450F and the Monster Energy Racing Edition YZ450F. Both of these models are four-strokes. According to Yamaha, the 450cc four-stroke engine has been subjected to a comprehensive revamp.

The finished product is less in weight, more compact, and offers two-mode changeable engine mapping in addition to being lighter in weight. This function can be accessed by riders by pressing a button that is situated on the handlebars.

Additionally, the gearbox arrangement has been redesigned, which has led to a shorter engine as well as an improved placement of the engine within the frame.

When we talk about the frame, we should mention that it has also been redesigned for 2023. Team Blue claims that the lightweight aluminum bilateral frame has been expertly designed to provide the optimal amount of rigidity while also allowing for some degree of flexibility.

The fork in the front suspension is a KYB Speed Sensitive System coil-spring fork, and the linkage in the rear suspension is made by KYB. The stopping power of the front brakes has been improved with a 270mm front brake rotor and a Nissin caliper, while the feel of the rear brakes has been improved with a rear brake hose that is now slightly less rigid.

Other significant improvements made to the YZ450F include (but are not limited to) the installation of Dunlop Geomax MX33 rubber, four-position adjustable rubber handlebar mounts, push-button electric start, lightweight aluminum tapered handlebar, a new computer-aided wheel design that helps reduce weight, and a redesign of the compact body.

When it comes to two-strokes, the 2023 Yamaha YZ125X is equipped with a revised and liquid-cooled 125cc two-stroke engine that has been tuned to improve power and performance over the whole rev range.

It has been outfitted with a brand-new Hitachi Astemo Keihin PWK38S carburetor, a brand-new straight intake design with a VForce4 carbon reed valve, and a muffler that is both shorter and lighter than the one that came on the previous model.

A revised and improved KYB suspension, a removable and lightweight aluminum rear subframe, a revised six-speed, close-ratio gearbox, a new and lightweight rear sprocket, an adjustable clutch lever, a sealed o-ring chain, and Dunlop Geomax MX33 tires are some of the other improvements that have been made.

In the meantime, the 2023 YZ250X has been updated to have better rider ergonomics, improved brakes, a Hitachi Astemo Keihin PWK38S carburetor, revised KYB suspension, new clutch pressure plate material, a new and lightweight rear sprocket design, a sealed o-ring chain, lightweight Excel rims, and Dunlop Geomax MX33 tires. All of these features can be found on the bike.

Hello there fellow motorcycle enthusiasts; I’m Mihael. The first motorcycle I had was a scooter Gilera vxr 200 from 2003. This is the motorcycle I fell in love with, which brought me into the moto world. Since then, I have been riding many kinds of bikes, from dirt bikes to race bikes. At the moment, I have a Kawasaki Z750 from 2004, and all I can say is that it is a hell of a bike. I have been riding motorcycles for the last 10 years, and during this period, I have been to many locations where I would probably not be without my bike. My goal is to give you the best advice and tips possible that I have been using myself and that all of my biker friends find helpful to them as well.
